Sending messages to your organization's Facebook Page requires that a Facebook user profile who is an administrator for that page "grant access" to Omnilert (See Endpoints: Facebook )
When your Facebook configuration is completed, Omnilert stores an "access token" for your Facebook page which allows the Omnilert service to send messages to your Page as posts.
If the Facebook user who authorized that access revokes that access token, Omnilert can no longer post to your page and the system will log an error in the message history.
How does an "Access Token" become invalid?
That can occur in several ways:
- The Facebook user who granted the token changes his/her password.
- The Facebook page removes the "Omnilert" app from its page.
- The Facebook user who granted the token removes the Omnilert app from his/her profile's apps.
- Facebook resets access tokens or sessions due to an issue on their end. (For example, if they experience any form of a security breach at Facebook.)
How to reset your Facebook Page's connection
In the event that your account cannot post to Facebook due to any of the reasons above, you will need to reset access to Omnilert. You will need to be able to log into Facebook as a profile with access to your Facebook Page to complete this process.
To do so, simply remove and re-add the "app" as follows.
Step 1:
Log into Omnilert as an admin. Go to the Endpoints and then click on Facebook and then go to the "Configuration" tab.
Step 2:
Click Remove from Facebook to go to Facebook and remove the app. (We need to remove and re-add it.)
Click the copy button to copy your "Omnilert ID Key". You'll need it in Step 4 below!
Step 3:
On Facebook, "Delete" the link to remove the link from your Facebook page. We'll be re-adding it next.
Step 4:
Now that the connection is removed, select your Facebook Page from the list and paste in your Omnilert ID Key copied from Step 2.
Then click Submit to complete the setup.
Complete.
That's all you need to do. You're all set and future messages should post properly to Facebook when selected.
