This error message for SMS indicates that the phone number was not routable for text messaging. Omnilert attempted to send a text, but our short code providers were unable to find that number on any carrier network.
Typically, this indicates that the number was incorrect. Some possible causes are:
- Too few digits (e.g. no area code?)
- Too many digits (e.g. an international number?)
- A landline
- A cell phone using a non-standard carrier, such as pre-paid or pay-as-you-go phones.
- or perhaps not even a phone number at all
So, if you see "Carrier could not be resolved by CNS" in your message history for SMS, this indicates a problem with the cell numbers loaded into Omnilert.
If this were uploaded data, you may need to check the source data to make sure that you haven't uploaded landlines into the SMS field for subscribers or truncated the phone numbers.
