If you do not receive a validation code from Omnilert, this indicates a blocked or restricted texting messaging plan from your mobile carrier.
Not all text plans include the ability to subscribe to text alert systems.
Naturally, you may be asking: "I get texts from other people all the time. Why can't I get texts from Omnilert?"
Receiving texts from other mobile phones does not necessarily mean your phone has all forms of texting enabled. In fact, many "unlimited texting" plans may restrict subscriptions.
There are two types of text messaging:
- Mobile-to-mobile (sending a text message from one phone to another)
- Mobile terminated messages (a non-cellphone to a cell phone)
"Mobile terminated" text messaging includes any/all services that send texts from shortcodes. ("Short Codes" are short format phone numbers used for texting.) This service sends SMS from the shortcode 79516.
You may try texting TEST to 79516. You will receive a response from Omnilert, or your carrier may respond with an error message to help with resolving this kind of issue. (If you receive no response, please call your carrier for assistance with this shortcode.)
In most cases, you'll need to contact your carrier directly and request this type of message or ask for assistance in troubleshooting this shortcode for this phone.
