With any major release, there are several new terms and concepts that those using previous versions will need to learn.
Users are now Subscribers.
In the past, we'd referred to those signing up to receive your Omnilert alerts as "users". However, many new admins found terminology confusing. To make things more clear, from now on, we'll refer to what used to be called a "user account" as a "subscriber account".
This way, there's no mistaking the difference between an administrator and a subscriber.
Manage your People.
Along with the name change for "Users" to "Subscribers", we've added a new section called People.
The "People" menu provides a section to manage both admins and subscribers, as well as your groups. Along with a better organizational layout, we've enhanced the Search function. Want to see who's in a group? Just filter your list of subscribers by the group.
Tags.
Speaking of people... We know you've been asking for better ways to identify and organize your subscribers. Groups are great, but you asked for more. So, we've added a new feature called "tags" to allow you to label subscribers beyond just groups. Learn more about tags in Omnilert.
Scenario actions can now be reused.
If you'd created Scenarios in the past you were used to your Scenario having its own, discrete "actions". This was great so long as you never wanted to reuse an action for more than one Scenario.
We've given Actions their own home. Now you can create an action and then assign that action as part of one or more Scenarios.
No need for a separate Mobile portal.
If you'd used the "Mobile Portal" in the past to send alerts from your iPhone or Android phone, you had to use a special "mobile portal" link to do it. You don't need that link anymore. All of Omnilert is now mobile-friendly.
You can just use the same link for both standard and mobile web access to your Omnilert account.
Note: All of the new Subscriber Portal is also 100% mobile-friendly, too.
Total customization of the Subscriber Portal.
The new Subscriber Portal now allows you to add your own titles, logos, and fully customized CSS to style every aspect of the site that your subscribers will see.
Custom Admin Roles.
Create your own types of admin accounts with your own custom access permissions. See Admin Roles.
Generate and store Downloads of your exports.
Instead of waiting for your browser to download a large export file, it'll be waiting for you on the new Downloads page in Omnilert.
Language Filters.
Omnilert now includes an option to filter subscribers by a preferred language. If you intend to compose and send messages in multiple languages, this new feature will help you target subscribers by their assigned language preference.
Train new administrators with Simulator mode
Omnilert 6 introduces a new Simulator mode which, as the name implies, allows admins-in-training to click Launch on Scenarios or click Send in Send Messages without actually sending alerts.
