Omnilert texts come from the common US short code 79516.
"Short Codes" are short-format phone numbers used for mass texting services. They allow services to send large volumes of SMS very quickly, securely, and with all of the reporting needed for a robust service like Omnilert.
79516 is the number used exclusively by Omnilert's services and cannot be "spoofed" or faked. It's registered with all major carriers and cleared for mass messaging.
So, you cannot change the sender number for Omnilert. However, you can change the "From Name", which is the text name sent along with your outgoing messages. Adjust the From Name in the Network settings for your SMS service.
- Keep the "From name" short, but distinct. It counts towards the 160 characters for SMS.
- Avoid emoji! Don't insert a colon character into your From Name unless you want your recipients to see a "smiley" of some kind. (Phones convert text to emoji automatically for most recipients.)
