If you do not receive a validation code from Omnilert, this indicates a blocked or restricted texting messaging plan from your mobile carrier.
Not all text plans include the ability to subscribe to text alert systems.
Naturally, you may be asking: "I get texts from other people all the time. Why can't I get texts from Omnilert?"
Receiving texts from other mobile phones does not necessarily mean your phone has all forms of texting enabled. In fact, many "unlimited texting" plans may restrict subscriptions.
There are two types of text messaging:
- Mobile-to-mobile (sending a text message from one phone to another)
- Mobile terminated messages (a non-cellphone to a cell phone)
"Mobile terminated" text messaging includes any/all services that send texts from short codes. ("Short Codes" are short format phone numbers used for texting.) This service sends SMS from the short code 79516.
You may try texting HELP to 79516. Your carrier should respond with an error that might be helpful in resolving this kind of issue.
In most cases, you'll need to contact your carrier and request this type of message or ask for assistance in troubleshooting this short code for this phone.
Message and data rates may apply.
